Not Another Teen Movie is an unrestricted comedy that demolishes every single high school teen movie cliche that you are acquainted with. It is set in the fictional John Hughes High School ( an easter egg for the famed director) and revolves around Jake Wyler( Chris Evans)- a quintessential american jock who wagers that he can turn the most nerdy girl in school, Janey Briggs (Chyler Leigh) into a prom queen.
The catch? Janey is deemed a “loser” due to her glasses, weird art, and… ponytail. Once Jake begins with the “transformation”, we are taken on a hilarious ride of baffling tropes and comical moments that spoof She’s All That and American Pie, and even Varsity Blues, 10 Things I Hate About You, Cruel Intentions and the Breakfast Club.
😂 What Makes It Funny:
This film is brutally outrageous. A non stop roast of every single teen movie cliche is featured in the movie, including but not limited to the oversexualized black friend who is the oversexualized black friend, a naked foreign exchange student, over sexualized cheerleaders and over the top football coaches. Not a single cliche is safe.

If you were like me and consumed an unhealthy amount of films in the late teenage period of the 90s and early 2000s, you’d appreciate this parody as pure comedic art. Its self-aware, stupid in the best way possible style is drenched in nostalgia, not to mention the absurd hallmark humor. Not to forget, it’s entertaining to see Chris Evans before the days he donned the Marvel cape.
